Hawaii
THIS seems to be the Year of the Kid in Hawaii. We mentioned 10-year-old Janel Parrish dashing off to appear in the ABC musical version of the Pinocchio story called "Geppetto," starring Drew Carey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus ... Now 9-year-old Kekoa Cazimero is Las Vegas-bound for the Universal Kempo Karate Tournament June 11-19. Then the youngster is off to San Clemente to be in the National Surfing Scholastic Tournament. To be in this you need a high GPA. His 3.9 at Trinity Christian School certainly qualifies ... SHE'S not really a "kid" anymore, but I remember Miss Hawaii candidate Candes Meijide Gentry since she was a mere babe in arms. I used to see her in the elevator of my condo when her mom, Nora Meijide and dad, late developer and race boat driver Tom Gentry, lived there. Now Miss Oahu, Candes is among those seeking the Miss Hawaii title at the Hilton's Coral Ballroom on June 18 ...

Wally was on the cover of Time magazine back in 1977, and he's on a roll once again. Talk show hostess Rosie O'Donnell mentioned his was her favorite chocolate chip cookie and guess who's getting a case delivered to her ...IT'S funny how $5 million gets the attention of most people, even highly paid CART race-car drivers who wear dozens of logos -- for which they're paid big bucks -- on their racing uniforms. But $5 million is the grand prize in the Hawaiian Super Prix, slated for Nov. 7-13 at Barber's Point, so you can bet there'll be a mob of drivers doing their best to qualify for the event. You can see lots of racing gear on display at the Super Prix's new offices at 600 Kapiolani Blvd., across from the News Building ...
Musical 'Journey'
THE next episode of "Emme's Island Moments" is entitled, "The Journey of Music," and it looks like a winner. There are four segments. The next section deals with the hot local singing group Forte and the final one takes a look at the duo of Cecilio & Kapono, past, present and future. It'll air June 11 at 9 p.m. on KHON-TV ...
