SEATTLE -- The Rainbow Wahine continued their advance toward the NCAA softball regional III championship with a win over Texas A&M on Saturday morning. The Wahine beat Texas by a score of 8-3, which advanced them to a semifinal game against Cal State-Fullerton.

The game against Cal State-Fullerton started at noon and went 11 innings, finishing at 3:30 p.m. with the Wahine eking out a 4-3 win over sometimes questionable pitching calls by the plate umpire.

Down by a run in the bottom of the 11th with two out and two on, Regina Kaaihili ripped a single past third base, bringing home runners from first and second.

The Wahine will face the undefeated Washington Huskies in the final tomorrow morning. Broadcast on KCCN 1420 AM at 9:30 a.m..

SEATTLE -- Regina Kaaihili hit a three-run home run and Trisha Ramos added a two-run double during a five-run third inning that helped Hawaii to a 7-2 victory over Colgate at the NCAA softball regional III yesterday.

On the mound, Janelle Gonzales scattered four hits in going the distance as the Wahine improved to 33-22. Melissa McGie, Joyce Lum and Natalie Gonzales each paired hits for Hawaii with Lum scoring twice.

In their opening round game of the double-elimination tournament Thursday, the Wahine fell to Texas A&M, 4-3.
