She has 30 years of insurance company experience, starting in marketing at Michigan Life Insurance in Royal Oak, Mich.
After visiting her sister in Hawaii, she decided to move to the islands. She joined Hawaiian Life Insurance Co. in 1972 and has worked in accounting, marketing, agency administration, policy administration and claims.
Pacific Guardian Life bought out Hawaiian Life Insurance in 1991.
Reyes was named assistant vice president for policyholder service in June 1992 and took on new responsibilities, including new business, in 1993.
