Young inventor wins prize

Photography by Ken Ige, Star-Bulletin

Ten-year-old Ashley Katamoto of Aina Haina Elementary invented
the "Chow Down Dog Feeder" for her Sunshine, a Japanese spitz.
She created the feeder because she didn't like constantly bending
over. Ashley placed third in the national Craftsman/ National Science
Teachers Association Young Inventors Awards Program. She
received a $250 U.S. savings bond from Clifford Urabe,
hardware manager at Sears Ala Moana.
