Gary Miyashiro will be planning, organizing and directing the financial operations at GE Capital Hawaii, including tax operations.

"We're just trying to maintain ourselves in this economy," Miyashiro said.

For the past 8 years, he has worked as assurance manager for Grant Thornton LLP. During that time he managed, conducted and supervised financial statement audits and directed recruiting for the department. He grew up in Waipahu and moved to Honolulu when he was 15 years old. Miyashiro earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii and then went to work for Grant Thornton.

Miyashiro is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

GE Capital Hawaii is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Co. with headquarters in Stamford, Conn. GE Capital is involved in equipment management, financing, specialty insurance and consumer services.
