New Web site
explains hula’s
history, culture

"Hula is the language of the heart and therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people," said King David Kalakaua.

Today there is a new site to explain the rhythms and pulse of the dance. The site, at http://www.geocities.com/~olelo/hula.html, explores both hula's history and culture.

There you also will find chants and myths, plus an excellent series of links to other pages about hula.

If you want to be updated in a modern way about this ancient dance, you can join the e-mail list for notes about changes to the site and other events.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
