Flying high at C. Brewer & Co.

Kenneth T. Uemura has been promoted to senior vice president and controller at C. Brewer & Co., which has relocated from Honolulu to Hilo. He continues to live in Honolulu and commutes to Hilo.

"The challenge has been to get organized but I love it here (in Hilo)," Uemura said. "For now, I get up at 4:30 a.m., and catch the 7:30 a.m. flight that gets in at 8:20 a.m."

He is responsible for treasury, accounting, taxes and management systems at C. Brewer.

Uemura has 28 years in accounting and joined C. Brewer in 1994 as vice president and controller. Uemura also held senior finance positions at Jas. W. Glover Holding Co. Ltd. and Persis Corp. and started his career with the accounting firm of Haskins & Sells.

He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Hawaii and is a certified public accountant.

C. Brewer, with origins to 1826, is a leading diversified agribusiness company.
