Watamull tennis angel
Tennis once again will be an athletic option for students at Leeward Community College, thanks to the generosity of Honolulu businessman Gulab Watamull, an avid tennis player. The college courts had become nearly unplayable. Students raised $35,000 for renovating the courts but it wasn't enough and the money was set aside.
Watamull learned of the dilemma from friends associated with the Leeward CC faculty and urged them to seek matching funds from the Watamull Foundation.
A proposal was prepared, the matching funds were approved and work is to start on the courts this spring, with the project scheduled for completion in early summer.
