NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
ADVENTURE

Cover price: $3.95 Quarterly

Outdoor enthusiasts have a new magazine to drool over: National Geographic Adventure.

In an introductory note, editor in chief John Rasmus says the magazine will appeal to those who have a "slightly devilish spirit" and that its aim is "to capture that passion and spirit ... and help you set out on your own adventures."

The premiere publication features varied stories: driving Big Ben National Park in Texas, a look at some good gear, the beauty of Tibet's treacherous Yarlung Tsangpo Gorge, how to buy a good Berber rug, a profile of free-climbing superwoman Lynn Hill and the mentality of risk-takers.

Throughout, there are great photographs, in keeping with National Geographic tradition.

It should be available on newsstands this week.
