The Chrysalis Cage is one of the spring
attractions at Waimea Valley.

Waimea abloom for spring

Spring is in the air at Waimea Valley Adventure Park. Visitors to the park now will be treated to coral trees (Erythrina) in full bloom, with blossoms ranging in color from scarlet to orange to pink.

Also in full bloom in the Lei Garden are the turquoise green jade vines (Strongylodon macrobotrys), a plant endemic to the Philippines.

Native wiliwili trees can also be seen throughout the park, painted a pale green by nature.

Adding to the visual experience is the Butterfly Encounter, a walk-through enclosure exploring the lifecycle of butterflies, from caterpillar to chrysalis to winged beauty.

The park is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. A spring admission rate of $25 for two adults (13 and older) and two children (ages 4-12) will be available through April 30. Call 638-8511 for more information.
