Helping JAIMS expand in Europe

THE Japan-America Institute of Management Science has named Ann Yakuma its manager for administrative support in areas of accounting, human resources and policy.

"We're trying to reach more people and expand in Europe," Yakuma said.

JAIMS hopes to get its first student from Europe this fall. JAIMS also arranged for public classes on "Understanding Business in China" to explain cultural differences.

Yakuma most recently worked as an accountant at Randall I. Sumida, CPA. She also was a paralegal for the law office of Dennis W.S. Chang and did freelance accounting for law firms and retail businesses. She also owned Maile Ilima, a jewelry and gift shop business.

JAIMS is a nonprofit postgraduate institute which deals in intercultural management education. JAIMS, established in 1972 by Fujitsu Ltd., has trained more than 17,500 academic program and seminar participants.
