Schoolteacher Kevin Kurasaki, represented by attorney Sam King Jr., waived preliminary hearing today on charges that he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl.

District Judge Colette Garibaldi sent the case to Circuit Court for trial.

According to an affidavit, the alleged victim is a third-grader at Mililani Mauka Elementary School. The affidavit says that on the night of March 18, Kurasaki, a family friend, picked up the girl to take her to a softball game but instead took her to Room 209 at the school, removed her clothing and assaulted her. The incident occurred about 7 p.m., the affidavit alleges.

Kurasaki, 36, faces 11 charges: three counts of first-degree sexual assault, seven counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of attempted sexual assault.

Bail was confirmed at $75,000. Kurawaki will be arraigned in Circuit Court at a date to be announced.
