Admit it. You sing in the shower. Everyone does. The combination of echo-y tile surfaces and the heady rush of ozone created by the falling water make singing hard to resist. But you've probably never thought of sharing this secret talent withe rest of the world. Unilever scouts talent
hidden in Americas
showersNow you can. Unilever, the makers of Dove, Caress, Lever 2000, Shield, Finesse and other shower-friendly lathers, are sponsoring a "Singing in the Shower" contest. Acts of one to four people -- four people is an awfully friendly shower -- sing tunes of two to four minutes that shower praises upon Unilever products. The songs can be originals or adaptations of standard tunes. Think of it as wet karaoke.
The national preliminaries will take place at 20 radio stations in conjunction with Wal-Mart stores. Honolulu is not one of them. The closest is radio station KIIS in Los Angeles on May 8. But you shower-singers in the boondocks of America can still enter by mailing a tape of the tune, along with your name, complete address and telephone number on a 3 by 5 card, plus printed lyrics of the song and a photograph no larger than 4 by 6, to Unilever Singing In The Shower Contest, P.O. Box 1585, Young America MN 55594-1585.
The deadline is Aug. 15, and winners will be notified in mid-September. First Place gets a $1000 Wal-Mart gift card, Second gets a $250 Wal-Mart gift card, and Third scores a $150 Wal-Mart gift card. You need to be at least 18, unless your parent is also part of the act.
