Emme’s ‘Moments’
revisits ’60s Waikiki

Some consider the 1960s as Waikiki's Golden Age when the famous nightclub strip was filled block after block with local entertainers.

Emme Tomimbang tries to capture the era in the nostalgic trip "Waikiki, Then and Now" airing on "Emme's Island Moments," Friday at 9 p.m. and rebroadcast April 3 at 2 p.m. on KHON-TV2.

Veteran island jazz singer Jimmy Borges co-hosts with Tomimbang as they pay tribute to Don Ho and the Society of Seven, both of whom are celebrating 30 years in show business.

Also sharing memories are Hawaii entertainment mainstays like Loyal Garner, Nephi Hannemann, Dick Jensen, Carole Kai, Sam Kapu, Iva Kinimaka, Melveen Leed, Kimo McVay, Alan Naluai, Marlene Sai, Eddie Sherman, and Emma Veary.

Tomimbang and Borges also pay tribute to singer-songwriter Kui Lee who wrote the memorable song, "I'll Remember You."
