A&B-Hawaii Inc. has promoted Sean M. O'Keefe to director of environmental affairs, where he will follow new governmental regulations. Overseeing the
environment for A&B"The company also has to provide input to proposed regulations," O'Keefe said.
He also will continue working on environmental improvements, such as alternatives to cane burning. This involves a different harvesting technique, which must be tested during the mill processing.
He has 10 years in environmental work and joined A&B's Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company in 1993 as environmental specialist. He also was a partner in Walters & O'Keefe Environmental Consultants Inc. and worked for Unitek Environmental Services Inc. O'Keefe earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy while in submarine service at Pearl Harbor.
