He has 10 years in financial administration and most recently was operational and financial internal auditor for Levi Strauss and Co. in San Francisco. Maher also worked three years in marketing for The Walt Disney Co. in India, Singapore and Hong Kong. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Nevada-Reno School of Business and a master's degree in business from Harvard University.
Maher calls himself a "blue-collar MBA," starting as a newsboy at age 9. He was a dishwasher at 13 and parking valet at 16.
