Rainbows find

Special to the Star-BulletinThe University of Hawaii men's volleyball team schooled the Aztecs of San Diego State University in Chemistry 101 last night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
"Good chemistry" between the Rainbows produced a 15-10, 15-9, 15-5 win in front of 4,383 fans.
"We have a good chemistry going now, it's just something that's been kind of lacking," said UH head coach Mike Wilton. "Now we're starting to operate as a unit a lot more as an actual team."
The Rainbows combined for a total of 56 kills and 17 errors for a .342 hitting percentage while holding the Aztecs to a .183 percentage.
All but one of the Rainbow starters had double digits in kills. Brenton Davis led the team in kills (18). Clayton Stanley had a career-high 11 digs to go along with 11 kills.
"Consistency was the key tonight," Davis said. "We played a better all-around match."
The seventh-ranked Rainbows improved to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
Even with the victory over the Aztecs, "we've got to clean up our middle attack a little bit; It's still not quite what I want it to be," Wilton said.
Next Friday and Saturday, Hawaii hosts UC Santa Barbara -- a team Wilton will not take lightly.
"They're gonna be tougher," he said. "Santa Barbara is a very good team."
As the Rainbows enter the homestretch of their schedule, talent as well as chemistry will carry them.
"We've got so much talent on this team it's hard to find the mixture. It's trial by error, but we're coming around," Davis said.
