Scenic Roadwork

Photography by Ken Ige, Star-Bulletin

State crews began preparation work yesterday to replace rusting
guardrails along Kalanianaole Highway from Hanauma Bay to
Sandy Beach, a $6.6 million project. The south-bound lane was
closed and traffic diverted through Kalama Valley. Officials say
work is expected to take about a year, with night-time closures
of the stretch of highway starting later.
