Overseeing prescription
drugs at Kapiolani

Kapiolani HealthHawaii, a health plan for men and women, has named Marcella Chock to oversee its prescription drug plan and provide for daily operations management of drug plan benefits and interactions with participating Hawaii pharmacies.

"Our goal is to include financial and overall care," Chock said. "I interact a lot with the physicians so we can be cost effective and still provide the care needed."

She has 10 years in health care and recently was clinical pharmacist for the Department of Veterans Affairs. She also was an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist with Kaiser Permanente and a pharmacist with Longs Drug Stores Inc. Chock earned a doctorate in pharmacy from University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. Kapiolani HealthHawaii, introduced in January 1996, is a subsidiary of Kapiolani Health, the nonprofit holding company for the Kapiolani centers and health-related firms.
