The annual Britt Lectures at First United Methodist Church got under way last night featuring the Rev. David A. Tinoco, a Mexican-born Methodist pastor who is now superintendent of the church's Riverside, Calif., district. Britt lecturer to
speak twice moreTinoco will speak at 7 tonight and again at 7 p.m. tomorrow on "Making Crossroads Work for Christ's Mission in the New Millennium." The talks are open free to the public.

Church of the Holy Nativity, 5286 Kalanianaole Highway: Ash Wednesday liturgy with imposition of ashes will be held at 6:30 a.m., noon and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. During Lent, Bible studies will also be held Sundays in Glantz Hall at 8:45 a.m. (no Bible study on Feb. 28) and Wednesdays in the Nave at 8:45 a.m.
A program for people to connect their life themes with the Bible will be held at 5 p.m. Sundays during Lent, too. Dinner will follow at 6:15 p.m. Participants will be using movement and visual arts and should wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal.
