Bolstering steel framing nationwide

Tim Waite will work to expand the residential use of steel framing nationwide for the North American Steel Framing Alliance. The group is an affiliate of the American Iron and Steel Institute.

"It's exciting because Hawaii is on the cutting edge, leading the world in steel framing," Waite said.

In his new position, Waite will continue to serve as executive director of the Hawaii Steel Alliance, a local association formed in May 1997 which now has 100 members.

Waite was director of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii's Resource and Training Center. He also worked for the National Association of Home Builders research center in Maryland and introduced steel framing to more than 100 regional building industry associations.

He also serves as a national director of the Light Gauge Steel Engineers Association.
