The University of Hawaii women's volleyball team today received official letters of intent from two of the country's top players.
Faxing their commitment letters to coach Dave Shoji this morning were Kamehameha's Lily Kahu-moku, a 6-foot-2 hitter, and 6-1 setter Jennifer Carey of Newport Harbor (Calif.). The two players were selected the Gatorade Circle of Champions players of the year for their respective states last week.
Also making good on her earlier verbal commitment was Margaret Vakasausau, a 5-9 hitter/setter from University Lab School.
The Wahine finished 28-5 last season, losing to Florida in the regional final. They lose just two seniors -- setter Nikki Hubbert and hitter Leah Karratti -- while returning eight letter-winners and redshirt junior Aven Lee. Shoji expects to sign one more player from either Europe or South America before the season starts.
