Doubleheader
split for HPU

Matt Ronan, Daric Stith and Bryce Uegawachi each stroked two hits and drove in two runs as Hawaii Pacific defeated Montevallo (Ala.) College, 8-4, for a split of their baseball doubleheader last night at Hans L'Orange Park.

Ruffin Antuna went 3-for-4 with a home run and Tony Cappola also homered as Montevallo (1-1) took the opener, 14-5.

OKADA FINALIST: Jean Okada of Lahaina and doubles partner Karin Miller of Bradenton, Fla., were losing finalists in the Clearwater, Fla., stop on the USTA Women's Challenger tennis tour last weekend.

Okada and Miller, who lost, 6-0, 7-6 (7-5), to Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia and Zuzana Valekova of Slovakia, divided the $800 runner-up prize and picked up 15 WTA Tour doubles points apiece.

BOWLING ON THE GREEN: Thirty-two lawn bowlers from the United Kingdom, led by three-time world singles champion David Bryant, will do friendly battle with the Honolulu Lawn Bowls Club today from 2 to 6 p.m. on the host club's green in Ala Moana Park.

SOCCER COURSE: Soccer Foundations II, one of a series of courses designed specifically for parents and coaches involved in youth soccer, is being offered at Leeward Community College from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, and Saturday, March 20. Tuition is $45.
