UH database helps
find scholarships

Now is the time for high school seniors to polish up those college applications. It is also the time when parents of seniors start some serious worrying about how they will pay for college.

If that sounds familiar, here's the site for you: a searchable database of thousands of college scholarships from around the country and keyed to Hawaii residents.

Many scholarships give preference to students who meet certain criteria. For example, there are scholarships specifically for females interested in engineering, or for graduates of a particular Hawaii high school.

The database, run by the University of Hawaii, is located at http://dbserver.its.hawaii.edu/cash/.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
