Ron Lee to become
By Pat Bigold
Bows receivers coach
Star-BulletinWith only details of the arrangement to be hammered out, St. Louis School offensive coordinator Ron Lee is slated to officially become the sixth member of June Jones' University of Hawaii football coaching staff by Monday.
''That's when June wants to announce it but I still have to talk some more with the Outrigger," said Lee, who will become the Rainbows' receivers coach.
He has been with St. Louis throughout its decade-and-a-half reign over Hawaii prep football and led Kaiser to an Oahu Prep Bowl victory in 1979.
The 54-year old Lee has also had brief assistant coaching stints at Willamette and Oregon Tech.
Lee said that his position with the university would be full-time but that he does not plan to abandon his duties as manager of the Outrigger Hotel's Main Showroom and the Polynesian Palace.
Mike Cavanaugh, who was an assistant line coach to Jones at San Diego, was confirmed Thursday as the Rainbows' fifth assistant coach hiring. Cavanaugh will be the offensive line coach.
Also on board are Dennis McKnight (special teams), Wes Suan (undetermined title as offensive assistant), George Lumpkin (linebackers), and Rich Miano (secondary).
Greg McMackin, fired last month as the Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator, is expected to be named shortly as the Rainbows' defensive coordinator.
