She replaced John Talkington, who relocated to the mainland.
Tamai has 13 years in financial management, and most recently was the administrative manager at Japan-America Institute of Management Science .
She also worked as the treasury internal control officer at the Tokyo branch of Standard Chartered Bank, and as an auditor at Price Waterhouse LLP in San Francisco and Honolulu.
Tamai is a graduate of Kaiser High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Georgetown University.
