Exhibition game
is rescheduled
NBA players couldn't get

to Hawaii in time because
of bad weather
Star-BulletinThe weather may be fair here in Hawaii, but the Chicago blizzard of 1999 wreaked havoc for local promoters of the two exhibition games involving locked-out NBA players.
One of those games was scheduled for tonight at 7:30 at the Blaisdell Arena, but was postponed until Friday because of bad weather 4,000 miles away.
"Too many of our players couldn't get out of Chicago," Marc Berman said.
"We're going to have a press conference (this afternoon) where most of the players participating in the two games will be here. I think the delay will help us sell more tickets, especially after the fans see the talent first-hand."
Players will be available for autographs during tomorrow night's first exhibition game. Tipoff will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Blaisdell Arena.
Fans who bought tickets for tonight's game can go to either one, according to Berman. Promoters say more than $200,000 worth of tickets have been sold.
The two coaches of the teams will be Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs and Shawn Kemp of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Shaquille O'Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers will also be here.
Other players scheduled to take part in the game are Dale Davis, Mark Jackson, Chris Mullin and Jalen Rose of the Indiana Pacers.
Bobby Jackson and Nick Van Exel will be here from the Denver Nuggets, as will Duncan, Sean Elliott and Chuck Person of the Spurs.
The Seattle Supersonics will be represented by Sam Perkins and Detlef Schrempf, while the New York Knicks are sending Marcus Camby and John Starks.
Top draft pick Michael Olowokandi of of the Los Angeles Clippers was supposed to be here, but he is reportedly in Rome to sign with a European League team.
Tickets can be purchased at the Blaisdell Arena offices. They are $65, $40 and $30. For more information, call 591-2211.
