Kevin R. Pierce will oversee daily operations of AES Hawaii Inc. and its power plant in the Campbell Industrial Park, which employs about 60 persons. Powering up Oahu's electricity
The $383 million coal-fired plant is capable of supplying more than 189 megawatts of electricity, about 20 percent of Oahu's needs.
"We've had a good year, as far as availability is concerned and we want to continue to improve our operating efficiency," Pierce said.
He has been with AES Corp. for 10 years, and most recently was operations superintendent of AES Thames, Inc. in Connecticut. Pierce also worked eight years with the Energy Transportation Corp., based in New York. Pierce earned a bachelor's degree in marine engineering from the Maine Maritime Academy in Castline, Maine.
AES Corp. is a global power company based in Arlington, Va.
