Continental Pacific
taps new president

Continental Pacific Mortgage has named Gary Kai to the new position of president and chief executive officer as it expands its business. The company is an operating division of Continental Savings Bank, a Seattle-based company.

"Our focus has been residential lending," Kai said. "My move was to get us involved in subdivisions, condominiums, offices and warehouses and be a complete mortgage company."

He has more than 26 years of financial experience and most recently was president and chief executive officer at Finance Factors Ltd. and Finance Mortgage Ltd. in Honolulu. Kai also worked at First Hawaiian Bank. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Hawaii and a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. Kai is active in construction, real estate and lending groups.
