10. Unidentified youth*

An officer responded to a call about a man possibly carrying a handgun walking on Meheula Parkway near Mililani High School.

1. The officer saw a teen-ager behind a tree overlooking Mililani High School's football field. With his gun drawn, the officer approached the boy and ordered him to take his hands out of his pockets.

2. The boy, 14, turned toward the officer and appeared to reach into his waistband.

3. The officer fired one shot. The youth was hit in the upper chest. He survived the shooting and was never charged with a crime. The officer said the youth had a handgun, but no weapon was recovered.

*Because of the boy's age, his name has not been released.

Aftermath The shooting was ruled justified.
