Giao Ngoc Chau, 24, of Honolulu will be remembered in services Tuesday. He drowned Sunday while attempting to rescue three boys swept out to sea by a wave at Haleiwa’s Kawailoa, or “Police Beach.” Born in Vietnam, he is survived by parents Son Ngoc and Ngoc Anh; sisters Thuy Ngoc and Diep; and brothers Linh N., Huy N. and Quynh N. Call from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Borthwick Mortuary. Buddhist services will be held. Burial: Valley of the Temples.

Uini Foafoa, 67, of Honolulu died Nov. 6 in Kuakini Hospital. Born in American Samoa, he is survived by wife Kilimi; sons Aliipule, Iosua, Perosi and Mealii; daughters Lagi Ufiufi and Pule Bayne; brothers Mealii, Aliipule, Legila and Alafua; sisters Faatele Sulu, Teu Iaseto and Alisi Falealili; and five grandchildren. Kinuyo Fujimoto, 95, of Honolulu died Nov. 1 at home. Born in Yamaguchi-Ken, Japan, she is survived by sons Hisao, Mitsuo, Richard S., Francis S., Stanley A. and Lawrence O.; daughters Vivian S. Mizota and Alice T. Fujimoto; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Private services.

Philomena K.I.H. Ganer, 59, of Kealakehe, Kona, died Tuesday at home. Born in Kalaoa, Kona, she is survived by her children’s father, Alfredo; sons Abel K., Alfred K. and John K.; daughters Anacita I., Dyana P. and Lavenda I.; brothers Karin, Solomon and David Haleamau; sisters Alice Hoohuli, Florence M. Chew, Esther Brown and Laverne L. Howard; step-father Cirilo Rosario Sr.; step-brothers Cirilo Jr. and Edward Rosario; and 17 grandchildren. Francis Kaaa, 60, of Nanakuli died Oct. 12. Born in Honolulu, he is survived by brothers Franklin, Jensen and Joseph; sister Johanna Penovich; half-sisters Vanessa Apio and Alycia Santos; hanai father Charley Panui; and hanai family Jimmy and Maxine Avilla, Sarah Kahue and Alvin Kalahiki. Elaine K. Keliiheleua, 61, of Waianae, a school custodian, died Oct. 28 in St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hawaii, she is survived by sons Raymond Kalani and Desto, Sam, David and George Keliiheleua; daughters Racheal Martinez, Roseline Salas, Francine Manlapit and Catherine Rodriguez; sisters Roseline Cenal and Matilda Applewhite; 37 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Theodore Y.H. Loo, 83, of Honolulu, a retired real estate and insurance broker, died last Friday in Queen’s Hospital. He was also a graphic artist, sign painter and school principal. Born in Hana, Maui, he is survived by wife Ngan Sum; daughter Stephanie Clancey; son David; sister Dr. Isabella A. Abbott; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Private services.

Yosuke Masagatani, 95, of Kii Tanabe, Wakayama, Japan, a legendary skipper and former owner of the aku boat Sea Queen, died Sept. 27 at home. Born in Esunokawa, Wakayama, Japan, he is survived by wife Homie; sons Franklin H., Allan T. and Wayne I.; daughters Alice S. Takenaka, Betty E. Stephenson, Gladys N. Masagatani and Mabel T. Dalmas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Private services.

Victor S. Murray, 91, of Keauhou, Kona, and Canada, a retired engineer, died Saturday in Kona Community Hospital. Born in Alberta, Canada, he is survived by sons Thomas and Richard; sisters Mary Kirby, Jean Shier and Rae Hilts; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Hajime Nakamoto, 83, of Kapaa, Kauai, died Tuesday in Kapiolani Hospital at Pali Momi. Born in Hanamaulu, Kauai, he is survived by wife Ruth; son Wayne; daughter Carol Asuncion; brothers Haruo, Haruki and Wallace; sisters Namiko Ishizaka, Katherine Higa and Elsie Takata; and five grandchildren.
