Tuinei out of lineupCowboys coach Barry Switzer said he does not anticipate having Tuinei, who sustained the injury in Monday's loss to the Washington Redskins, for the Cowboys' game at Philadelphia the following week, either.
"Right now, we're looking at rehabbing him for a week to two weeks," team trainer Jim Maurer said. "Really, it's week-to-week and see how he responds to that."
The partial tear occurred on the part of the ligament that Tuinei had surgically repaired during the 1987 season. Additional surgery for what is termed a sprain is not being considered, Maurer said.
Tuinei, the former Punahou School and University of Hawaii star, likely will be replaced in the starting lineup by George Hegamin, who has started one game in four seasons.
Tuinei missed only one start last season, when he was held out along with a number of other starters in the final regular-season game. He played the entire season with a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and had surgery in the off-season.
