Taylor heads bank's
new insurance unit

Michael G. Taylor heads up First Hawaiian Insurance Inc., a new unit at First Hawaiian Bank offering personal and business insurance and estate planning.

The unit, formed June 12, has five employees, three of whom are in sales. "We also operate in partnership with individual insurance agents in town," Taylor said.

Taylor worked 27 years for Manufacturers Life Insurance Co., including two years on the mainland. He joined that company in 1970, served as Hawaii branch manager from 1980-94, and last served as regional manager for Hawaii, Guam and Alaska.

Taylor is past president of the Honolulu Association of Life Underwriters/West Honolulu and the Hawaii Estate Planning Council. He received the Life Insurance Professional of the Year award in 1989 from the Hawaii State Association of Life Underwriters. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Gonzaga University.
