Explore freedom
of information

Freedom won't ring if you aren't free to find out what your government is doing.

So on this Fourth of July take a few minutes to learn how to ask your government a question or two.

A site filled with information about freedom of information is maintained by the Society of Professional Journalists at http://www.spj.org/foia/index.htm.

The site uncovers the federal Freedom of Information Act and even points out how you can use it to learn more about government.

If all this makes you want to investigate more, go to: http://www.poynter.org/je/je_jsites6.htm, which is the Poytner Institute for Media Studies collection of online journalism libraries.
