Mary Levine, conductor,
pianist, writer, teacher

Mary Levine, 73, of Seattle, a conductor, pianist, writer and teacher who worked in Honolulu theater, died Saturday at home.

During her career, she conducted more than 200 musicals around the country, including performances at Honolulu’s Diamond Head Theatre.

She served as music director and coordinator for Honolulu City Ballet and was public relations director for Honolulu Symphony and Hawaii Opera Theatre.

She also served as vocal coach for the Hawaii Opera Theatre.

She is survived by sons Stephen and David; brothers John and Mark Thomas; and a granddaughter.
