I.B. "Buddy" Peterson of Honolulu, longtime leader of Local 677 of the Musicians Association of Hawaii, died Thursday in Honolulu. He was 86.In 1952, he was honored by the American Way Committee of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce for providing music for many groups and community events and for preservation and promotion of the American way of life.
Peterson was formerly an orchestra leader and a director of the Honolulu Symphony Society.
Born in Honolulu, he is survived by wife Elva "Sis"; son Ronald B.; daughters Marlene L. Peterson and Elva L. Moore; sister Edith H. Tucker; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
