Abraham Fornander, $7.95, 349 pages

The book draws on oral histories collected by Native Hawaiian historians and assistants. Chants and their translations are in the appendix.

"Hawai'i's Glamour Days"

Find out why Hawaiians push a lei back so it doesn't rest against the back of the neck; how Christmas came to Hawaii in 1778; and when prostitutes were kept out of Waikiki.
