She has been company vice president in charge of operations since June 1991.

Merchandise International, based in New Jersey and Honolulu, imports many entertainment specialty items from Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. Each year the company imports thousands of decorative lights for the Fernandez Entertainment Inc. carnivals.

Katz, who lives in New Jersey most of the year, also seeks unique products for other customers in the United States.

Katz, a Punahou School graduate, has a bachelor's degree in business administration from University of Hawaii.
