Hawaiian style

Get straight A's in attire for fall and the new school year by attending Sunday's Ka Pili Anuenue fashion show/luncheon. The event's luncheon seating is at 11:45 a.m. at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

Ka Pili Anuenue (the Rainbow Connection) program continues with fashions by Hawaiian designers:

Danene and Pono Lunn of Manuheali'i design sleeveless dresses, short and long jumpsuits, muumuu, T-shirts, backpacks, bags and accessories.

Andrea Weymouth-Fujie of Double Paws Wears unveils vests, tops and halter dresses.

Bonnie McAfee-Torco and Ann Young of Kuhina send dresses, pullovers and T-shirts down the runway.

Linda and Nola Nahulu of Bete Inc. present classic girls' and women's muumuu.

Nake'u Awai offers colorful Hawaiian attire.

Tickets are $35, with proceeds benefiting the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club college scholarship program.

Current recipients include Natalie Leinani Relles, who enters the University of Hawaii medical school this fall, Wayne Kaho'onei Panoke, a Hawaiian studies major at Leeward Community College, and Jerem Ka'awaloa, a UH premedical student.

A lobby boutique opens from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to offer baked goods, baskets of local treats, clothing, jewelry, lauhala products, and handmade feather lei, shell lei and handmade quilts.

Entertainment features songs of the 1930s through the 1950s with former Miss Hawaii Pamela Kimura, jazzpianist Betty Loo Taylor and other performers.
