F. Maggi and Paul W. Blankman, formerly of Honolulu, had their ashes scattered off Diamond Head. F. Maggi Blankman, 78, died March 8 in Illinois. She was a Pan Am Airlines retiree. Paul W. Blankman, 79, died May 21 in Illinois. He was a federal retiree. The Blankmans are survived by son Bruce Faudel; daughter Kay M. Harmon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Yosoto Egami, 87, of Kealakekua, Hawaii, a retired farm manager for the University of Hawaii, Kona Branch Experiment Station, died Tuesday in Kona Community Hospital. He is survived by wife Sakae O.; sons Richard T. and Jerry Y.; daughters Molly H. Nakano and Linda Y. Roberts; sisters Yasue Ito; and seven grandchildren. Johnny O. Flanigan, 64, of Pearl City, a former Honolulu International Airport employee, died July 19 in Kuakini Hospital. Lynette Y. Hagino, 71, of Honolulu, mother of former state Sen. Gerald Hagino and former state Rep. David Hagino, died Wednesday at home. Soon Hak Hong, 85, of Honolulu died Wednesday in Queen's Hospital. Myung Soo Lee, 93, of Honolulu died last Saturday in Kuakini Hospital. She is survived by sons Paul Y.W. and Gilbert D.S. Richard L. "Dick" McDowell, 61, of Kaneohe, a retired U.S. Army colonel who also worked at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, died Thursday at home. May Jean Miller, 65, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of Honolulu, died Sunday in Milwaukee. She is survived by daughters Orchid Rodrigues, Patricia Hammel and Kathy Allen; brother David Kaluna; three sisters; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Da Ich Ngo, 73, of Honolulu died July 16 in St. Francis Hospital. Kay K. Shimabukuro, 60, of Mililani, a tour coordinator for NTA Pacific, died Wednesday in Wahiawa General Hospital. She is survived by husband Shuei "Tom"; son Alan H.; daughter Amy M. DEATHS ELSEWHERE

Max Winter, who helped build one of the great dynasties in sports history and brought pro football to Minnesota, died in Minneapolis last night after a long illness. He was 93. He had a part-time home in Hawaii and spent a lot of time in the islands. Born in the Mahrishostrau, Austria, Winter came to Minneapolis in 1913 when his family emigrated to the United States. Though only 5-foot-4-and-1/2, Winter attended Hamline University on a basketball scholarship. Winter was hired as general manager of the Lakers of the old National Basketball League in 1947. He resigned after the 1954-55 season and sold his stock in the team. In 1960, Winter was awarded an NFL franchise -- The Vikings. Winter became president of the club in 1964. He built a championship-caliber club that went to four Super Bowls, losing them all.

Joseph C. Goya, 79, of Honolulu died Tuesday in Honolulu.
