The Pharcyde, who first appeared on the L.A. scene, bring an all-night hip hop party to the Groove June 21, with prize giveaways and seven hours of nonstop music.

Doors to the event open at 7:30 p.m. and $12.50 tickets go on sale tomorrow at Connection Outlets, Hungry Ear Records (Makaloa, Kailua, Wahiawa), Tower Records (Kahala and Pearl Kai), Tower Video (Kapiolani), Pearl Harbor Bloch Arena, and the ITT Outlet at Kaneohe MCBH.

Taking a turn from the "gangsta rap" and "booty music" of today, the Pharcyde's Imani, Booty Brown, Fatlip and Slimkid 3 rap about quirky situations and relationships in a smooth R&B and "bass-kick" manner.

Last year the former break dancers released their second album after three years, called Labcabincalifornia on Delicious Vinyl, naming the disc after their suburban L.A. home.

No matter what they rap about, however, listeners are sure to find some idiosyncrasy or abstract lyrics, which distinguishes The Pharcyde from the rest of the hip hop community.
