President Barack Obama has started his day at the gym.

The president and his security detail went to the Semper Fit gym at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay this morning.

The base and the gym are a short drive away from the beachfront house his family is renting in Kailua for the holidays.

The president has visited the gym every morning since he arrived on Oahu on Christmas Eve.

The president, who was born and raised in Honolulu, and his family are due to stay in the islands through early January.
