A student living in the Hale Wainani apartments at the University of Hawaii at Manoa has tested positive for the swine flu virus, according to a UH Manoa news release.

State health officials said the student had not traveled recently.

UH officials said two of the student's roommates are also displaying flu symptoms. All three students are being isolated in separate rooms.

The residence hall is being disinfected and students and staff members who have been in close contact with the student are being notified and will be evaluated.

The student reported to University Health Services on Wednesday, and the H1N1 virus was confirmed today by the state Department of Health.

The student is now recovering from what appears to be a mild illness, the news release said.

There are currently no changes to university operations or activities.
