Police officer stabbed in Waikiki trying to arrest a homeless man

A Honolulu police officer was stabbed by a suspect this morning early this morning while trying to arrest him in Waikiki, police said.
The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in good condition, where he was treated and released.
Police said the officer has been on the force for seven years and is assigned to the Waikiki substation.
The incident happened at1:54 a.m. near Queen’s Beach.
Police said several officers were attempting to arrest a 27-year-old man, with no local address, on an outstanding warrant when the suspect stabbed one of the officers once in the lower torso. Other officers restrained the suspect.
Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.
