The majority of Honolulu employers—78 percent—plan to maintain staff levels during the third quarter of 2009, according to a Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released today.

Some Honolulu employers that participated in the survey said they plan to reduce staff.

Six percent plan to hire more employees, while 11 percent said they expect to reduce their payrolls. Another 5 percent are uncertain about hiring plans.

For the coming quarter, job prospects appear best in wholesale and retail trade and leisure and hospitality.
