Question: I've heard that the Hawaiian Humane Society is offering a special program for children affected by the DOE teacher furloughs.

Answer: The Humane Society's Fast Track is designed for high school students 14 and older. It's a two-day training course that will educate students and prep them to be active volunteers.

Following completion of the training, students are expected to volunteer on all Furlough Fridays for a minimum of five hours each day. It's a great way to get teenagers involved and to help animals in need. The first training is set for Friday. Visit hawaiianhumane.org for more information.
