» Ken Bailey will receive the U.S. Army Pacific's distinguished Mana O Ke Koa “;Spirit of the Warrior”; award from Lt. Gen. Benjamin R. Mixon, commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific, at the Army Birthday Commemoration on Saturday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel Coral Ballroom.

Bailey has served as the Hawaii state president of the Association of the U.S. Army. He currently serves as the chairman of the armed services committee for the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and is a member of its military affairs council.

» Patrick Branco, a 2009 Hawaii Pacific University graduate from Kailua, is one of 20 winners of the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship.

Branco is a paralegal at Kobayashi, Sugita & Goda in Honolulu. In the fall, he will attend Johns Hopkins University's Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.
