Bus passengers subdue knife-wielding suspect

A 54-year-old man punched and pulled a knife on a man on a city bus on Pali Highway before other passengers subdued him Saturday afternoon, police said.

The suspect was acting belligerent on the bus when a 48-year-old man intervened at about 2:15 p.m., police said. The suspect punched the man in the face and displayed a knife, police said.

The two men wrestled with each other on the moving bus until other passengers stopped the fray. The suspect got off at the next bus stop and was arrested near Pauoa Road on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening. He was released pending further investigation.
