Fan gives thanks for 'Lost' series

I want to say a very heartfelt mahalo and aloha to the entire cast, producers, writers, all the crew, everyone involved in “;Lost,”; for creating such a terrific television series.

As a regular viewer, one who thought the finale was an excellent conclusion, thank you for taking fans along on a great adventure. What a ride! And thanks to all of you for your personal and professional contributions to the community.

Furloughs unneeded at Hanauma Bay

Anybody paying attention to proposed furloughs for Hanauma Bay workers coming up in July? The City Council vote is in mid-June. This is not necessary, as Hanauma Bay is financially self-supporting. It is an important tourist destination and a popular local spot. It is a magnificent natural wonder. Do we want the hours cut down? Contact the City Council members. Let's not affect a well-run park.

Have separate fund for traffic fines

With all the crimes, accidents, speeding and tailgating on our streets, I believe that if the police stepped up enforcement of all the laws—and the monies from tickets, citations, etc., were put into a police fund instead of the general fund, where it is used at the will of our self-serving politicians—we would have much safer streets and the police would have more incentive to do their duties.

Honolulu would be better and our city and state would be a much safer place.

Keep libraries open when schools closed

Wouldn't it be nice if the libraries were open when schools had holidays? Compare that with Asia, where libraries are mainly for children. In Hong Kong, high school graduates are second-year university level, compared to Hawaii high schools.

Introduce more children to the library and take a burden off parents who have to work. Isn't it time the government began doing something for the people rather than dumping on them?
