Reyn's clothing plays a role in 'The Descendants' picture

Big boost for Reyn's clothing. When director Alexander Payne started thinking of wardrobe for George Clooney, starring in Payne's new film “;The Descendants”;, he told wardrobe director Wendy Chuck that he wanted to outfit Clooney in shirts from Reyn's.

; The novel that the film is based on, written by local author Kaui Hart Hemmings, mentions that the Clooney character and members of his family wear Reyn Spooner shirts, and Payne wanted to keep true to the novel. Chuck and her assistant, Michelle Braff paid several visits to Reyn's Ala Moana Center to gather up wardrobe. Items include shirts, T-shirts and swim trunks. A photo taken on the movie set appeared in the March 29 issue of People magazine showing Clooney in one of the shirts ... Clooney dined with two other guests Sunday night at Ruth's Chris at Restaurant Row. The actor had a bone-in ribeye steak and raved about the bread pudding, an original from Ruth's founder Ruth Fertel. Clooney was casually dressed in his second visit to the restaurant, wearing a baseball cap pulled low to partially cover his face, jeans and a shirt. Don't know if it was a Reyn's shirt ...

Moving on: Outrigger Entertainment, which has been producing the Society of Seven show in Waikiki at the Outrigger Main Showroom for more than 30 years, handed over the room Wednesday to World Class Entertainment, headed by SOS founding member and leader Tony Ruivivar and local businessman Clyde “;Tiger”; Shirai. SOS-Las Vegas will continue performances at the showroom. Fran Kirk, who has presenting some of the top acts in Waikiki, will be retiring as Executive Vice President of Outrigger Entertainment. She has been closely involved with the Society of Seven for decades ...
